Steady Eddie Bikes

Get Started

Due to its shape, each bike comes partially assembled, but don't worry, there are clear instructions provided with all the tools you need to get it going.

So now you have your Steady bike, the fun really begins!

We let Eddie just play with his bike like any other toy. Initially your child may just watch the wheels spin or walk it around the room. Soon they will want to hold the handle bars and lift their legs over to be astride the bike. They will probably then just walk the bike.

Soon it will be time for you to encourage them to sit on the seat and learn to put their weight through their bottoms. This is the most important step, for once they have got the idea of transferring their weight from their legs to the seat, the rest comes naturally.

They can start off walking it along a flat path. If you find an area with a slight slope, they can start to have fun just rolling along gaining the confidence to lift their feet and finding their balance. All the while they have the freedom to place their feet down at any time to avoid falling.

In order to stop, the child naturally drags their feet to slow themselves down. Steeper hills should be avoided until the child and the carer are confident they can stop. The bike is so light it won't over power them.

Once they have mastered it, the world is your oyster!

Eddie goes everywhere on his bike. He started off playing with it in the garden and soon was able to make trips to the shops, visit the library and do the school run, which was fun for him and us. Through parks and woods at the weekend the bike rolls easily over rougher terrain without the all too familiar problems with awkward stabilisers. No more bent backs and frustrated children!

From our own experience, the eventual transition to a pedalled bike is swift as the balancing skills have already been mastered. Eddies 7 year old, elder sister completed this step in 30 minutes with no need for stabilisers. Though the Steady still remains a favourite even with her.

Above all, it is about getting exercise and gaining a skill in a way that is so much fun, it will give your children a great start.

*To ensure many years of use please wipe down your Steady Eddie Bike, after splashing through puddles, keep dry overnight and make sure that all boltsare kept tight.

Enjoy!
