Steady Eddie Bikes

Here's a few of the comments we've had...

I just wanted to let you know how we are getting on as I truly am an extremely proud parent.

The twins got their balance bikes for their 2nd Christmas and used them last summer and this. They built up confidence, and balance as well as a fair bit of speed - lots of eyes closed moments (mine) waiting for the cries but thankfully none came!
At any opportunity we took the bikes with us and got lots of admiring looks and questions about what they were and where they were from.
Sadly though the balance bikes are no longer in favour. At 3yrs and 8mnths they have moved onto pedal bikes! The transition was seamless and thankfully painless..

I'm still hanging onto the balance bikes though as I am quite emotionally attached to them and they envoke such great memories each time I look at them.
All of our friends are amazed that the twins can ride bikes already and I entirely attribute it to the fact that they started off with their "steady Eddies"

Thanks for some great memories

Helen

Hi There

I would just like to thank you for your wonderful bike!
My darling wonderful Australian cousin bought my then 2yr 10 month old son one for last Christmas and he has not been off it since!!!
He literally had his Christmas morning breakfast on it and loves it very much!
We will be doing the same for our daughter who will be 2 by Christmas.

Best Wishes

Vivienne.

This was his best present this year!  Could not make him hapier!
Thanks a lot for your service! I apriciate it!!!

The bike is a great success. Our Grandson (aged 2years and 9months) rode it for some considerable distance around the woods - he would never have walked that far.  He also loves riding it round the garden at our house.

Thank you.

Margaret

Dear Sir,

I don't often contact businesses to eulogise about their products but the Steady Eddie has been such a huge source of joy for my family, son and parents alike, that I feel it's only right that you get to share in some of the happiness it's brought us.  Feel free to use as much or as little of the following as you like in the quotes section of your website.

I bought a Steady Eddie for my son's 3rd birthday and within a couple of days he was scooting about town, picking up compliments and jealous looks in equal measure and generally making his Dad very proud.  I've lost track of the number of times I've been asked where I got it from.

Over the last year it's been an almost constant companion on trips out, including a particularly memorable trip to the ramps of the local skate park, which his Mum should probably never know about!  Whether it eases his transition to a pedal bike or not is, frankly, not important (although I'm certain it will).  The bike is an end in itself.  He's had countless hours of fun and it's been a joy to watch his sense of balance develop and his confidence grow.

The Steady Eddie is little short of a design classic, combining practicality, style, attention to detail and durability in one great value package.  The insight that led to the inclusion of the carry handle could only have come from a parent with previous experience!

I wish you every success with your business.  You deserve to beat all the competition, which may benefit from bigger marketing budgets but whose products are all flawed in one way or another.  If word of mouth and demonstration is the best form of promotion then you can consider the Windsor area well covered by my son.

Many thanks, once again.

Yours faithfully

Hi Ian,

We bought a steady eddie bike for my daughter (Sophia) when she turned 3 (a year ago now). At at the time my son, Xander, was 4 and a half.  We thought the bike might have been too small for Xander but as he is not a tall or heavy child it was in fact fine.  He got on the bike straight away and within minutes was committing his weight fully on the saddle and beginning to lift his feet off on a gentle slope.  In the first weekend up at Burghley Park he happily rode the bike along the flat road pushing hard with both feet, gaining speed and then enjoying the ride as he balanced freely with his feet up.  Without a seconds thought he steered off to the right down a pretty steep grassy bank which levelled out about 50-75m down ... and all we heard was an excited “weeeeeeeeeeee” as we watched him speed down the bank, perfectly balanced with both legs tucked up.  He got to the bottom and shouted “again again” and proceeded to repeat the process about 25 times. Probably one of the happiest afternoons of his (and our) lives!  He was beside himself with excitement and achieved quite a little gathering of admiring onlookers (and one or two few envious parents too).

Xander has continued to enjoy the bike over the past year and in May this year, just after his 5th birthday he got a Raleigh bike (no stabilisers) and within 5 minutes was able to ride independantly - start and stop - and steer round a course.  The following day he rode this bike in a mini triatholon at school and came 2nd.  We put his success and speed at learning on the grown up bike completely down to use on the steady eddie.  Despite being able to ride a grown up bike, he still enjoys using the steady eddie bike and will ride it to swimming etc. - he attracts a great deal of attention from his friends and their parents who constantly ask me where did I get it.  I always tell them that despite there being several similar types and styles on the market “steady eddie” is worth every penny ... I think its light weight, handle in the middle, saddle colour flexibility, handle bar restriction and overall style all far outweigh other models.

As for Sophia ... well she is nearly 4 now ... loves the bike ... very quickly got to committing weight and lifting feet up to balance ... she is now building her confidence to increase speed and gradient of slope.  We are in no doubt that she will transfer to a grown up bike as easily as her brother ... but in the meantime, the steady eddie is unbelievably well loved, well used and well looked after!  I thought at the time it was quite expensive, but have no regrets at all and already have many wonderful memories of watching both my children enjoy spending time on it.

Thank you again for selling it to me and for your support.  I hope that some of the people who I have recommended you to have bought from you.
Kind regards,
Annie

BIKERADAR.COM

Probably the best wooden 'scoot-bike' out there

We prefer the Steady Eddie over the Kiddiemoto on the basis of having better wheels and tyres and proper grips. It probably pips the Like-A-Bike too for similar reasons.

Ian, we love the bike. I have four kids teaching alice (the youngest) on this was probably the easiest.... She still uses it every day to and from school. We are big fans!! Paul

Hi, The bike was delivered yesterday and my dad has done a sterling job of putting it together. He says that it is excellent quality. Rachel.

Very many thanks for your reply and comprehensive advice - much appreciated! Best wishes,Ruth

The bike is a hit and has been highly recommended to our friends!! Regards Lisa

Very good service and I will not hesitate to tell people where to go for their bikes when they see my Eddie on his! Sarah

My daughter loves it. Only wish we'd got one for our eldest when she was the same age. The bike has replaced the pushchair and comes with us everywhere. Richard.

Thanks for the swift delivery, it arrived on the Monday morning. Tom loves his new bike! He was whizzing down hill within two days (feet up of course!). Lots of parents are asking us about it. We're encouraging them all to get one! Thanks for taking the time to e-mail me. I wish you every success with your business. It must be very satisfying to build something that makes so many
children so happy.

Best of luck to you James.

I decided on the Steady Eddie bike as it seems to be well made and i am a big fan with wooden toys. I also liked the idea that the bike has two different coloured seats, it can be passed onto his sister when she is old enough! Fiona

Thank you so much. So good to deal with a company that has a human caring touch. I am so looking forward to seeing Hannah get to grips with her bike. I will update you as we progress. Thanks again, and good luck with your business. Christine

EVERYDAY CYCLING – The leisure arm of the British Cycling Federation

Well made, stylish, fun and well thought out. A hit!

All in all, we really couldn't fault the Steady Eddie. Sure, its not the first or only learner bike on the market - Like-a-Bike has marketed a range of wooden and aluminium starter bikes for a few years. Isla Rowntree's Islabikes range also includes a scoot along option. What makes the difference is the price, currently at £79.99, undercutting the competition substantially, with no apparent sacrifices in quality...

Olympic cyclist's seal of approval

Former Olympic and World Championship silver medallist, track cyclist Bryan Steel has also endorsed the bike, saying: "The Steady Eddie is a great investment for any family with toddlers and a wonderful learning tool for introducing children to cycling at a much earlier age and building their confidence and independence.....
